The Ministry of Finance has told trainees of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme to channel issues surrounding their stipend arrears to the Office of the President.

The trainees petitioned the Ministry of Finance to pay the 8 months owed them by the government before the NABCO programme came to an end in 2021.

But the ministry, in a statement cited by GhanaWeb, admonished the trainees to rather petition the presidency.

It explained that the arrears can only be paid if the Office of the President, which was directly implementing the programme, validates the payment of the arrears.

“We acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 5th February 2024 petitioning this Ministry to pay eight and nine months arrears of the erstwhile NABCO trainees under the then NABCO Programme.

"The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) was under the Office of the President and therefore any outstanding payments on the programme will have to be validated and submitted to the Ministry of Finance by the Office of the President,” part of the statement read.

It added, “We advise that you route your petition through the Office of the President for onward submission with the requisite supporting documents to the Ministry of Finance. We count on your cooperation on the matter.”
