Bishop Tackie-Yarboi has stated that Charismatic churches are “woefully” not celebrated despite the good they offer society because people concentrate rather more on the excesses some of them do.
Comparing the contribution of orthodox churches to the charismatic ones in terms of economic development through the construction of schools and hospitals over the years, the Presiding Bishop of the Victory Bible Church International said: “The difference is that they have been there for many years".
"The charismatic churches are about 40 -50 years and we are doing so much because some of us have started hospitals, some have started educational institutions and we are trying to change people for the better, trying to reduce a lot of crime but unfortunately people report on the bad aspect or the negative aspect and so it gives all of us a bad name.”
Speaking on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) with Benjamin Akakpo on Class91.3FM on Monday, 11 May 2020, Bishop Tackie-Yarboi said “the church is woefully not celebrated because I think people want things that are sentimental, people like bad news, bad news sells because when man bites dog that is news but when dog bites man is normal. So, for those who are even doing very well people don’t care, they are looking for those who are doing bad and so bad news sell.
“And there are some too the way they carry themselves because their understanding and their definition of church is very different but anybody could just name anything church, there’s freedom of religion…”
