Charitable organisation Marian Global Concern for Women & Children launched

The Catholic Archbishop of Accra, Archbishop Kwofie, launched Marian Global Concern for Women & Children (MGCWC), a charitable organisation in a virtual ceremony in Accra.

Launching MGCWC, Archbishop Kwofie said “Today, I am delighted to launch the Marian Global Concern for Women and Children in need. Their mission is to give impetus and witness to Christ’s Gospel of Love and Mother Mary’s maternal concern for the less privileged in the society in a concrete manner by undertaking projects and activities aimed at uplifting the dignity of poor and needy children and women in the holistic development of their spiritual and material wellbeing.”

MGCWC was founded in 2014 by 15 catholic women and Rev. Sr. Maria Vidalina Cabeltes RVM to continue the projects started by The Most Rev. Leon Kalenga whilst he was the Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana.

Sheba Awuah-Darko, President of MGCWC, commented “We have been working in communities to provide amenities for the spiritual, academic, and social development of women and children. These include catechetical programs for children; scholarships for needy children and skills training for women.

"We also organize outreach activities such as soup kitchens and visits to orphanages we support. Our formal launch enables us to open our doors to new members so we can do more. Our membership has grown but we still need your help and support to help more women and children in difficult situations.”
