Mr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey, a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Volta River Authority, has stated that government ought to dismiss a recent petition against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Charlotte Osei.
Over the last couple of days reports have emerged stating that Electoral Commission staff had issued a petition to President Nana Akufo Addo asking the President to have the EC Chairperson impeached.
According to the yet unknown petitioners, Madam Charlotte Osei is guilty of multiple instances gross mismanaging, mismanagement that they feel warrant EC boss's dismissal from office. But in a recent post on his personal Facebook page, Mr. Wereko Brobbey says democracies aught to dismiss the impeachment petition, referring to the petition as "un-meritorious".
According to the former New Patriotic Party member, governments deal with "real citizens" as opposed to "concerned" citizens.
Mr. Wereko Brobbey's comment may allude to the fact that although the petition has been sent and received by the Flagstaff House, the identities of the petitioners are yet to be revealed.
Mr. Wereko Brobbey's comments echoes that of several other political figures who've publicly referred to the petition against the EC's Chairperson as one that ought to be dismissed.
