Check expiry date of every item this season – FDA

The Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs. Delese Mimi Darko has urged the public to tread cautiously when purchasing food items during this year’s Christmas festivities.

The Christmas season is noted for increased trading activities and many Christmas discount offers by shop owners across the country.

It is however believed that that period also comes with an opportunity for traders to hurriedly sell off old stocks including expired products.

In an exclusive interview with Class News' Blessed Sogah, Mrs Darko appealed to the public to be conscious of food safety measures such as checking out for the expiry date of products.

She added that the authority is open to reports and complaints from consumers and therefore urged consumers to report persons who sell expired products to the Authority.
