As part of celebrating the life of the late former Vice President H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the Aliu Mahama Foundation in collaboration with Ghanaian community in Chicago on 15th February, organized a memorial lecture in his honor at the Sofitel Hotel, Chicago water tower, Illinois State, USA under the theme: Greater discipline, a tool for National Development.
Speaking at the lecture, Dr, Samuel Kwadwo Frimpong the Executive Director of the Foundation, and the Guest Speaker for the occasion, spoke on how the late former Vice President, lead a positive exemplary life for the youth and the people of Ghana to learn from. According to him, the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama stood for greater discipline in every aspect of our lives. He believed that, with discipline and commitment, our country can develop just as other developed countries.
Dr. Frimpong, encouraged the Ghanaian community to be good ambassadors of Ghana since they represent the image of Ghana. He also encouraged them not to lose hope in Ghana as the nation goes through challenges especially the electricity problems but to always support the country in any way possible.
Mr. Farouk Aliu Mahama, the son of the late former vice president, spoke on how his father served the country and he is happy the father has left a legacy of discipline which he called on all to support and help to build the Ghana we all wish for.
Other speakers include; Mr. Faud Mohammed and Mr. Uriah Sakyiamah all of the Ghanaian community in Chicago spoke highly of the late former Vice President and his role in the development of Ghana. The function was chaired by Alhaji Salamu Amadu, the CEO of Afro-Arab Group and was attended by a cross section of Ghanaians in Chicago and some American friends of the late former vice president of the Republic of Ghana.
