Chicagoans' celebrate Independence on March 4

The newly renovated Four Point Sheraton Hotel grand ball room, 7353 S. Cicero Avenue in Chicago, the windy city of the Midwest, will be buzzing and sizzling hot with activities culminating in Ghana's Independence anniversary celebrations on March 4th 2006, from 7:00 PM prompt to 2:00 AM.
The Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago and the Ghanaian community in the Midwest , celebrate Ghana's Independence Anniversary yearly. The celebrations are a result of Ghana?s attainment of freedom from British Colonial rule on March 6, 1957.
Tickets are $40.00 per head for the fun and family plated dinner!
If you have not yet planned your weekend retreat, we have already planned one for you this Saturday, March 4 2006. The Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago and its affiliate organizations has put together a dazzling program lined up with cultural displays and top DJ?s led by Millennium Soundz, to make Ghana?s independence anniversary celebrations a memorable one for you. Alongside the Asanteman?s Adowa and the Ewe Association?s Borbobor troupes, the Emashie Kpalogo troupe, remnants of the popular Wolomei group of Accra, will show Chicagoans what made them thick in the ?old? days!
This year, the commissioner for consumer affairs, city of Chicago,Ms. Norma Reyes, Mr. Charles "Chuck" Bowen, the former Mayor of Chicago's special Assistant on African and Religious affairs, Professor George Assibey-Mensah of University of Indiana,Samuel Akainya and Dr. Andy Davis will be among the host of honorary guests!
Bring your family, your date and friends for a "good time"! You cannot miss out on this because your own hometown newspaper, the African Spectrum, Ghanaweb and the Ghana National Council will be there to cover the occasion! Video coverage will be done by Emmanuel Ampadu whilst upcoming photographer,Osei Agyeman-Badu will stand-in for Mr. CNN of Ghanaweb fame.
