The Paramount chief of the Assin Apimanim traditional area in the central region, Obarimba Kwame Nkyi XII, has returned from a tour of the United States after canvassing support for the fifth Pan-African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST).
The festival is scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 3 this year.
In a statement to the Ghana News Agency at Cape Coast on Wednesday, Obarimba Nkyi said he visited New York, Atlanta and Washington DC, where he stressed the important role PANAFEST can play in strengthening the socio-economic bonds between Africans living on the continent and those in the Diaspora.
Obarimba Nkyi whose visit was to promote the tourism and other investment potentials in the country, particularly his traditional area, where the former 'slave market and river' are located, said he delivered lectures on "Assin Manso's connection with the Trans-Atlantic slave trade."
