Chief Commends Gov't On Cocoa price Increase

Ekwamase (C/R), June 27, - Nana Nketiah Afful, Abontsidomhene of Abeadze traditional area, has commended the government for increasing the producer price of cocoa. Addressing a farmers forum at Ekwamase, Nana Afful urged cocoa farmers to let the gesture motivate them to maintain their farms to ensure optimum yield. He cautioned the farmers not rpt not to produce poor quality crops, saying that though Ghana has been overtaken as the leading producer of cocoa, she is still regarded as the leading producer of He appealed to the Produce Buying Company (PBC) to station a purchasing clerk at Ekwamase to serve farmers in the town and its surrounding villages. Nana Afful said the recent rains have rendered many roads almost unmotorable, a situation which poses a problem for the farmers in carting their foodstuffs and cash crops from the hinterlands to He appealed to the Cocobod, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union and other transport societies and non-governmental organisations to assist the government by rehabilitating some of the roads.
