Accra, Sept. 14, GNA - The Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood on Friday expressed concern about the rampant conflicts and disputes that were threatening lives and societies worldwide.

"It is, therefore, time for the Judiciary to be well represented and to study the best practices that will help reduce such problems and enhance the lives of the people."

Mrs Justice Wood made the remarks when the Ambassador of Brazil, Mr Luis Fernando Serra called on her to invite her as a Guest Speaker at the celebration of the Bicentennial of an Independent Judiciary in Brazil scheduled from May 2007 to May 2008.

Mrs Wood accepted the offer and said the invitation offered an opportunity for Ghana to learn and share some ideas that would improve Ghana's judicial system as well as cement the friendship between Ghana and her allies.

She said the invitation was an honour to Ghana, the Judiciary and womanhood.

Mr Serra said Chief Justice Ellen Gracie, who was also the first female Chief Justice to be appointed by the Brazilian Government, extended the invitation. He said the visit would be the beginning of an exchange programme between the judiciaries of the two countries.
