Chief Justice urges Judicial Staff to shun corruption

Koforidua, March 04, GNA - The Chief Justice, Mrs

Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, has urged Staff of the

Judicial Service to guard against all acts of corruption and

negative tendencies at their work places. "One bad conduct by a staff can derogate from the good

works that you have been doing over the years" she said,

adding that, it was only the negative deeds of a staff that were

highlighted in the public view while the good ones were buried. Mrs Georgina Wood said this in a speech read on her

behalf at an awards ceremony for hard working staff of the

Judicial Service in Koforidua on Thursday. She said as staff of the Service, it was their collective

responsibility that would ensure a truly transparent and

accountable judiciary which would be accessible to all, rich,

poor and weak or strong. She urged them to let the institutionalization of the

awards ceremony imbibe a healthy spirit of competition

amongst them in the region. Mrs Justice Wood urged those in charge of the

selection process to ensure that the system was transparent

and devoid of nepotism, tribalism and corruption. She said that the Judicial Council, with the active

support and input of Judicial Service Staff Association of

Ghana (JUSAG), were making efforts to ensure that their

entitlements under the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS)

were achieved. She therefore urged them to be cautious, tolerant and

patient to ensure that their migration to the new salary structure

was smooth and did not entail the bottleneck that other

institutions were reported to have experienced. Mr Harrison Mensah Adiko, the chairman of the

Regional Advisory Council (RAC) of the JUSAG, advised

non-enrolled members of the Provident Funds to get on board

since some retired members and beneficiaries of deceased

colleagues had started enjoying their due.
