Chief advises community leaders

Nkoranza (B/A), April 18, GNA - Nana Okatakyie Agyemang Kudom IV, President of Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs has stressed the need for chiefs to liaise with their community leaders, respect the views of their people and co-operate with them in order that they would jointly promote the development of their communities.

Nana Agyemang Kudom also Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area was addressing a section of the people of Nante near Jema and his divisional chiefs at his palace during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly installed chief of the area, Nana Asamoah Baffoe II.

Nana Asamoah Baffoe, 54 years is known in private life as Mr. Asare Baffoe and is a businessman currently based in Accra.

He succeeded Nana Asamoah Baffoe I, the former chief of the area and a relative who abdicated the seat about six years ago. Nana Agyemang Kudom urged the youth of the area to offer the needed support and encouragement to their chief to give him a peaceful mind to initiate plans that would enhance the development of their community and to enable them to improve upon their living standards. The Omanhene deplored the negative attitudes of some members of royal families and kingmakers who after electing a chief later turn to become impediments in the chief's way and try to cause his downfall and said such practices have great effect on the development of places and should therefore not be encouraged.

Nana Agyemang Kudom advised the chief to be very careful and mindful about his movements in order that he would not involve himself in any negative behaviour that could cast a slur on his image and disgrace the chieftaincy institution.

Nana Asamoah Baffoe II, Chief of Nante in his oath pledged to offer the needed support to the Omanhene and also respect his elders and community members and that he would never decline in leading his people to achieve development.

He therefore called on his people to guide him in his leadership roles in order that he would serve them to their expectations and to move Nante forward.
