Zabzugu, Aug. 23, GNA - The Zabzugu/Tatale District Chief Executive Alhaji Yakubu Bukari has commended the chiefs, assembly members and the people of the District for their immense contribution to peace, harmony and unity in the District.

Alhaji Yakubu gave the commendation during a meeting of Executives and Finance and Administration Sub-Committee of the Assembly at Zabzugu. He said although the Assembly Members were supposed to be non-partisan that should not keep them away from preaching peace to ensure free and fair elections in December. Alhaji Yakubu advised them to team up with their chiefs, unit committees and the electorate to find a way of maintaining the peace in the area.

He appealed to political party supporters to be tolerant of each other's views in order to foster an atmosphere of peace and calm needed for free and fair elections in the interest of the country. The DCE expressed concern about how a lot of the communities that benefited from the Poverty Alleviation Fund were not paying back for others to benefit.

He appealed to the assembly members to educate them to pay back the loans.

The Sub-Committee Members expressed concern about how some consultants of the assembly allowed contractors to handover shoddy work to some institutions and organisations in the District. They said the assembly would no more entertain the behaviour of such consultants. 23 Aug. 04
