Mampong-Akuapem, Nov. 25, GNA - Nana Otu Perbi II, Chief of Akuapem-Mampong has appealed to the management of Ghana Telecom (GT), to review its operations and devise a system where telephones could be used solely by subscribers to reduce the misuse of private telephones. He noted that misuse of telephones especially by the youth had led to high telephone bills leading to misunderstanding between subscribers and GT.

Nana Perbi made the appeal at a forum organized by management of GT for its customers at Mampong-Akuapem in the Akuapem North District on Friday.

He expressed appreciation for the staff of GT in the area for their dedication to duty.

Mr Emmanuel Dziko, General Manager of Business Development of GT, said the company had no monopoly over the communication industry but would endeavour to provide its customers with good services. He noted that customer care was very important to the company, hence the forum to know problems of their customers and how to address them.

Mr Joseph Wireko, Manager in charge of fixed network, said the company introduced the prepaid system to reduce difficulty in paying bills by customers.

He said the pre-paid system had been designed in a way that only the subscriber could access it anywhere in the country. Mr Edward Adu-Aboagye, Akuapem North District Chief Executive, called on management of GT to design phone-booths that would be user-friendly for the disabled, since the area had a lot of schools for the disabled.

He said the forum was an enhanced means of dealing with customers and called on other organizations to emulate the efforts of GT.
