Chief asks security agencies to ensure peaceful elections

Nana Mbiah I, Mponuanohene of Akyem Abuakwa State, has appealed to the country’s security agencies to collectively help in ensuring free, fair and violent-free elections in December.

He tasked the Ghana Immigration Service in particular, to be vigilant and prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country to make Election 2012 peaceful.

Nana Mbiah made the call at a durbar to climax a two-week Ohum festival of the chiefs and people of Kyebi Apapam, at the weekend.

Nana Mbiah cautioned chiefs, assembly members and other people who were selling Okyeman lands without proper documentation, to stop the practice.

The chief, said as part of his traditional role, he inspected boundaries of stool lands at Adoagyiri, Ntoaso, Sakyikrom, Fankyenekor, Anoff, Duayeden-Nyanaoase, Kofi Kwei, Danso, Djafoakwah, Akroso, Osebo, Nwanta and Esuso, all in the Akyem Abuakwa State.

He appealed to the Police to check sand winning, which had destroyed lands at Teacher Mante, Govinakrom, Pampamso, Krokese, Kofi Kwei, Obregyima, Anoff and Adoagyiri, also in the area.

He commended the media for reporting on socio-economic activities in the Akyem Abuakwa State.
