Kumasi, May 31, GNA - Nana Agyen Frempong II, Tafohene of Kumasi, has stressed the need for Ghanaians to exhibit a high sense of probity, accountability and uprightness in their lives. He said there was also the need for people to offer constructive criticisms towards instead of negative and derogatory remarks that could retard the country's development.
Nana Agyen Frempong was addressing members of the Ashanti Regional Cadres United Front after they had spent hours to undertake a clean-up exercise at the Tafo District Hospital in Kumasi on Saturday as part of activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the June 04 uprising. The cadres, who were drawn from the various cadre groups in the region including NDC members, cleared the weeds on the premises of the hospital, removed cobwebs, scrubbed the floors, cleaned louvers of the consulting rooms and the wards.
Nana Agyen Frempong stressed the need for all Ghanaians to fight for peace, unity and understanding and to tolerate the views of others to enhance the socio-economic development of the country. The chief inspected projects at the hospital, interacted with some of the workers hospital and commended the cadres and expressed the hope that they would extend their activities to other areas. Mr. Samuel Sarpong, The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), said he was happy to see them working at the hospital and said it was an indication that they had the concern of people at heart. Mr. Sarpong said they should positively renew their patriotism, commitment and devotion to the development of the country and bring development to the people.
Mr. Dennis Kombet, the Regional Organizer of the Front, called on all well meaning young people to join the Front not only to learn the aims and objectives of it but also imbue in them the spirit of fighting issues that militate against national development. Dr. James Kwame Ampadu, Senior Medical Officer at the Tafo Hospital, thanked the chief and members for the support and expressed the hope that the exercise would not be a nine-day wonder but they would continue to assist the hospital to ensure quality health care delivery.
