Nalerigu (N/R) Oct 29, GNA - The Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Nayiri, Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga, has expressed worry about the way some community members attack security personnel on duty. He said this when the Minister of Information, Mr John Tia Akolgo, paid a courtesy call on him at Nalerigu on Friday.

The Nayiri, the acting President of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs, said the security personnel had been trained to protect society and to prevent destruction and wondered why they could be attacked. Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga said he would hand over to the security agencies people who would be caught attacking the security personnel.

He stressed the need for the people to cooperate with the security personnel to help maintain order and that community members should volunteer information about the whereabouts of criminals to the police. Mr Akologu said the government had stabilized the economy and this was attracting investors.

He said roads and schools were being built and that roads in the area would be constructed.

Mr Akologu said with the introduction of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority, there would be more projects to bridge the developmental gap between the north and the south. The Information Minister called on the Gambaga Chief, Gambarana Yahaya Wuni, who appealed to him to ensure that the government construct the road network in the area, provide a decent police station and post more teachers to the area.

He visited the Zobzia Primary School where he attended and presented 500 dual desks to the Primary and the Junior High School and a set of jerseys and a football. He advised the school children to take their studies seriously and to also respect their teachers and parents. 29 Oct 10
