Kumasi, Feb. 25, GNA - A Kumasi Circuit Court has ordered Nana Fe Bamoah, chief of Asokwa, a suburb of Kumasi, to pay a fine of Gh¢500.00 f= or offensive conduct. Additionally, he would sign a two-year bond to be of good behavior. Nana Bamoah, who denied the offence, would serve six months in jail in hard labour if he failed to pay the money. Police Detective Inspector Martin Assenso told the court, presided ove= r by Mr Justice William Boampong, that the complainant, Comfort Oforiwaa, lives at Asokwa, where Nana Bamoah is the chief.

The two have been litigating over a plot of land and on April 17, last year, the chief drove his car to the residence of the complainant, where he hurled insults on her. He accused her of witchcraft and threatened to pull down her house. Comfort made a formal report to the police who invited the chief but h= e did not honour the invitation. This forced the police to serve him with criminal summons to appear before court.
