Chief inaugurates youth development association

Yefri (B/A) Oct. 15, GNA - Okoforobour Osei Bonsu II, chief of Yefri in Nkoranza district of Brong Ahafo has inaugurated a 50-member a development-oriented youth association called "Yefri Nkosoo Kuo". He commended the youth for coming together to promote the development of the community, saying their effort was a good foundation for posterity to build on.

The chief pledged that elders in the community would support and encourage the association to grow for the rapid development of the area. Okoforobour Osei advised the people to guard against negative partisan politicking as that could divide them and affect development.

Mr. Prince Kwame Ofosu-Adjei, an educationist and a leading member of Accra-Tema branch of the association expressed appreciation for the formation of the association.

He said non-resident citizens had formed similar groups in Sunyani, Kumasi and Kintampo with the common goal of helping the residents to initiate development programmes. Mr. Ofosu-Adjei urged members of the association to share ideas with opinion leaders in the community to promote unity, peace and understanding in the area.

In a welcoming address, Mrs. Gladys Owusu, chairperson of the association disclosed that members had been spearheading clean-up campaigns and paid special tribute to the chief for his support and encouragement in their activities. Other officers are Mr. Anthony Kudom, Vice-chairperson, Mr. Henry Asuamah, Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Antwi, Assistant Secretary and Miss Mary Pokuaa, Treasurer.

The rest are Miss Janet Asuamah, Assistant Treasurer, Madam Cecilia Adjei, Organiser, Miss Theresa Takyiwaa, Porter, Mr. Effah Takyi and Mr. Kwabena Nyamaa, executive members. Oct. 15 05
