Chief of Kotokoo appeals for developmental projects

Accra, Aug 8, GNA - Nii Tackie Amoah VI, Chief of Adjen Kotokoo in the Ga District has appealed to the government to channel more developmental projects to the community to speed up the growth of the people in the area.

Nii Amoah VI, outlined some of the developmental projects needed in the community as motorable roads, hospital, a police station and secondary school.

He said, the people have been denied these basic humanitarian facilities for the past years and there is the need for the appropriate authorities to come to their aid to help in the progress of the community.

Speaking to the GNA in an interview after the weekend's Homowo Celebrations, the chief who was installed about a year ago, said, the road leading to his community has remained untarred for years despite the numerous appeals made to the authorities.

According to the chief, the nature of the road has affected the growth of the community, as people have to use the bad road before making any form of investment in the area hence causing a high rate of unemployment in the area.

He said the problem has also been compounded by the absence of hospital and secondary school in the area since people have to travel long distances before they could have access to these facilities.

"This is worrying, especially during emergency situations," sometimes resulting in deaths.

Nii Amoah VI, also added graduates of Junior Secondary School (JSS) have also have to move out of the community before having access to secondary education.

The chief expressed concern over the absence of a police station in the community because it was the major cause of indiscipline and lawlessness in the area.

He recalled a situation where some land guards were arrested recently but some managed to escape because the police took over three hours to reach the area.

The ceremony itself was characterised by the normal sprinkling "Kpoikpoi" by the chief at every door step in the community, followed by firing of musketry and fun fare later in the day. It was rounded up on Sunday, with prayers for the progress for the community.
