Chief urges rural dwellers to unit for development

Nsuta (B/A), Feb.11 GNA - Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area, has urged rural dwellers to unite and work towards the development of their areas. Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV made the call at separate durbars of chiefs and people at Nsuta and Faaman organised in his honour as part of his familiarisation tour the Techiman Municipality.

He asked the people to bury their differences and think of developing their areas. He advised the chiefs to channel their grievances through their immediate Overlords, who were Grade One Chiefs of the Traditional Council, for redress.

He said his Palace doors were fully opened to welcome meaningful suggestions that could be beneficial to the Municipality. Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw urged settlers to abide by the customary and traditional norms and to honour their annual tribute to enable the Traditional Council to accomplish its obligation towards the provision of social amenities to enhance their standard of living. On Education, the Omanhene called on parents to invest in their children's education to help to make them useful citizens in the future. Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV reiterated the need for the people to embrace the introduction of the Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme by educating their others to register to become part of scheme for their own benefit.

Nana Owusu Ameyaw and Nana Issah Boffour, Chiefs of Nsuta and Faaman on behalf of their people complained about the harassment of their traders at the Techiman Central Market by middle women, whenever they went to sell their foodstuffs, especially cassava and plantain. They appealed to the Omanhene to help stem such incidents, which had compelled some farmers to send their foodstuffs to Sunayni and Wenchi Markets.
