Nana Owongo Nkum III, Odikro of Breman Asantem in the Breman Asikuma Traditional Council has been destooled by the Council at the celebration of Akwasidae Festival at Breman Asikuma.
He was found guilty on four out of 14 charges against him. The Odikro, who was enstooled in 1982, has three days to appeal against the judgement at the Central Regional House of Chiefs.
Reading the declaration, the Registrar for the Traditional Council, Mr William Hanson Prah, accused the chief of failing to avert a clash in his area during which a man was killed.
The registrar alleged that Nana Nkum failed to avert arson and destruction of properties belonging to both members of the royal family and the palace running into millions of cedis after which they deserted the town.
"He unceremoniously deserted the town and left the palace and stool properties unprotected when he had a hint that people were coming to vandalise the palace." Mr Prah said the judicial committee observed that Nana Nkum's inactive and gross negligence of responsibility and duty as a chief led to an unfavourable state of affairs in the town.
