The chiefs and people in communities along the Trede-Junction and Kumasi-Ahodwo stretch of road have commended government for showing greater commitment to commence rehabilitation works on that stretch.
Opanin Kwame Okyem Fordjour, Abontendomhene of Adum-Kwanwoma, who gave the commendation, said the chiefs and people in the area were very grateful to government for solving one of the major challenges facing the people in the communities dotted along that road which used to be the old Bekwai road.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi, Opanin Fordjour said the repair works on that stretch would not only be a relief to the people, but would also ease the severe vehicular traffic congestion on the Santasi-Bekwai highway.
He commended Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister; the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Members of Parliament in the area, the District Chief Executive (DCE) and others who had played very useful roles to facilitate the project, which would provide an alternate route from Kumasi to the Bekwai Municipality.
Opanin Fordjour also commended the contractor, Messrs Kofi Job, for the good work done and called on the people in the communities to cooperate with the contractor to help speed up the work to ensure early completion.
He pledged the support of the chiefs and elders to the contractor to ensure the successful execution of the project for the benefit of the people.
