The Chief of Yorogo, Naba Johnson Awuni, has appealed to the Government to provide a Junior High School Block for students of the Asorogobiisi Junior High School in his locality.

The students attend classes in a dilapidated mud structure, which is affecting teaching and learning.

The Chief made the appeal at a get-together organised by him, the assembly man, Unit Committee Members, the School Management Committee and the Parent/ Teacher Association for teachers of the school.

He said considering the high increase in population, it was very crucial for the Government to consider building a school block for the Junior High School, to save the students from travelling very far to attend school.

He said intake was increasing at the Asorogobiisi Primary School and it was important to get a better building.

The Assemblyman for the Yorogo-Tingre, Mr. Solomon Akakeya, appealed for additional primary school blocks and two day care centres considering the growth of population in the area.

The Assemblyman paid tribute to teachers for organising extra classes free of charge for the school children and said that had led to improvement in academic performance of the school and praised the school for performing well in the last BECE results.

Mrs. Francisca Ateere, Deputy Director in-charge of Finance and Administration, commended the chiefs, assembly member, Unit Committee Members, School Management Committee and the Parent/Teacher Association, for honouring the teachers and said that would motivate them.

She appealed to them to educate community members to refrain from attacking and abusing teachers.

Mrs. Ateere assured the chief and the people that the Ghana Education Service (GES) would facilitate the process with the municipal assembly, to see whether they could get the school infrastructure they were demanding. **
