Charia (U/W), June 8, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Charia in the Wa Municipality have expressed their disappointment at the slow pace at which work on the Small Town Water Supply System and Rural Electrification projects for the community were being implemented. They said the two projects were awarded on contract two years ago but work on them had come to a standstill and no reason had been given for that. Mr. Ireneous Namane, a member of the Charia Youth Development Association, raised these concerns at a durbar of chiefs and people of Charia to express their appreciation to President John Atta Mills for nominating Mr. Yakubu Duogu for the position of Municipal Chief Executive for Wa. He called on the government to hasten the execution of the two projects to encourage cottage industries and businesses in the areae. Mr. Namane appealed to the government and the Wa Municipal Assembly to build more schools in the community to avoid overcrowding of children in the few schools. Efforts should be made to upgrade the Charia Community Clinic to a polyclinic to help provide quality healthcare services to the people Mr. Namane appealed to the Ghana Library Board, benevolent organisations and public spirited individuals to provide books for the Charia Community Library to help school children to improve their reading skills.
