Chiefs pay homage to Awoemefia of Anlo

Anloga, Sept 13. GNA- Togbe Sri 111, Awoemefia of Anlo has said divisive tendencies including hatred, envy and lack of forgiveness among the Anlo people are some of the causes affecting development in Anlo Traditional Area.

He warned that unless people in the area changed their attitude, there will not be any meaningful development.

Togbe Sri was addressing the Awoemefia stool fathers, paramount chiefs, and elders from the 36 traditional areas of the kingdom, who paid homage to him on Friday at Anloga, the first since he was installed. He said he does not have any ill feeling against anybody and will help to iron out any differences so that they can once again put the Anlo kingdom to a higher level.

"We may have out differences but critical of a democratic dispensation, majority carries the vote, what is required now is to put the past behind and move along together'', he said.

The king reminded the chiefs and elders of the spirit with which their forebears created the kingdom and urged them to help keep the flame. Togbe Addo V111, Paramount Chief of Klikor Traditional Area said the long vacuum created by the death of Togbe Adeledza has been filled and urged all chiefs and people of the area to unite and develop the kingdom.

Professor Kofi Awonnor said the issues of disunity and rancour in the state were sources of embarrassment to most Anlo citizens living outside the kingdom.

Traditional areas whose chiefs attended the programme included, Anyako, Srogboe, Keta, Dzelukope. Tsiame, Atiavi, Ave-Xevi, Ave-Afiadenyigba in the Akatsi district.
