Chiefs from the Abudu Royal Gate in the Northern Region have pledged to offer support to the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Saeed to execute the development agenda of the region.

They said development of the region was in the interest of all parties including chiefs and opinion leaders and that whoever was appointed as Regional Minister must be given the needed support to work to ensure peace and unity.

Alhaji Sule Sahaka, the regent of Nanton, gave the assurance when he led some chiefs from the Abudu Royal Gate on Thursday to pay a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister.

The chiefs were at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council to congratulate the minister on his appointment and assumption of office as well as advise him to work and make sure the region developed.

Alhaji Sahaka also thanked president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing Salifu Saed and assured that the chiefs would offer their fullest support for him to succeed.

Mr Salifu Saeed, the Northern Regional Minister said Northern Region was bigger than any individual and he would therefore collaborate with all chiefs and other traditional rulers to ensure that the region gained its past glory as the food basket of the country.

He said the NPP’s agenda of “one district, one factory” and “One village, one dam” could only materialise if chiefs and their subjects supported them by providing land for such developments.

He said the NPP government would work harder to ensure that the national cake was distributed equitably to justify the confidence Ghanaians reposed in the party in the 2016 elections.

Mr Saeed said his doors were opened for advice and suggestions to all groups in the region and assured chiefs that he would personally travel to meet those who cannot travel to Tamale for interactions if they invite him.

“I am your son and if I am going astray, feel free to correct me and I want to plead with all to support me and the NPP to develop the region”, he said.
