Children immunized against measles in Kumasi metropolis

Kumasi, Dec 10, GNA - A total of 298,583 children under five years were immunized against measles and given Vitamin "A" supplementation during the recent national immunization exercise in the Kumasi metropolis. This represented more than 113 per cent coverage. Dr Kwabena Opoku-Adusei, Medical Superintendent in-charge of the Suntreso Hospital and the acting Metropolitan Director of the Ghana Health Service, told the GNA in an interview that 65,163 of the children were in the Asokwa sub-metropolitan area.

This represented more than 113 per cent coverage. Dr Kwabena Opoku-Adusei, Medical Superintendent in-charge of the Suntreso Hospital and the acting Metropolitan Director of the Ghana Health Service, told the GNA in an interview that 65,163 of the children were in the Asokwa sub-metropolitan area. Bantama immunized 68,034 children, Manhyia North, 51,525, Manhyia South, 47,053 and the Subin sub-metro, 33,406 children. He described the performance as highly impressive and commended the health personnel, the volunteers and supervisors for the good job done. Dr Opoku-Adusei also gave credit to the Metropolitan Assembly and the Ashanti Regional Directorate of Health Services for providing vehicles and other logistical support. 10 Dec 10
