China Trade Delegation Visits Ghana

A 33-MEMBER delegation, led by HE the deputy director of the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation of Shandon province, China, will undertake a Trade and Investment promotion tour of the country from 2nd to 6th November, 2002.

The visit is part of government’s efforts to promote trade and investment, as well as a follow-up of the visit to China of a Ghanaian trade delegation led by the Hon Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr K.K. Apraku, from September 21 to October 4, 2002.

The main objective of the mission is to meet prospective Ghanaian investors and sensitise them on the enormous business opportunities mutually available in Ghana, and the Shandon province of China, in order to enter into possible joint venture, among the contractual business counterparts.

In this regard, the delegation would interact with the various business associations and other individual private sector operators. There will be business interactions to discuss in detail, the areas and nature of the co-operation, and one-on-one business contacts, on Tuesday, 5th November, 2002, at the Trade Fair Centre conference hall.

Special meetings have been scheduled for the team at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ghana Free Zones Board, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Association of Ghana Industries.

The team is particularly interested in doing business and attracting partnerships in such activities as printing and dyeing, tyres, hardware, tools, electronics, textiles, machinery and equipment, and information technology.

Prospective local investors who would want to enter into joint ventureship with the Chinese investors, should contact, Mr Kwame Nuako, special assistant of the Minister of Trade and Industry, in Room 408 of the ministerial block, for details of the programme of the visit, and to arrange for the meetings with the Chinese investors in addition to being effective partners in the entire programme of activities.
