China trains Africans on computer hardware maintenance

Guiyang (China), Aug. 21, GNA - A one-month training programme on computer hardware maintenance and network equipment technology opened in Guiyang in the Republic of China on Thursday as part of the Chinese government's training programmes and seminars for staff of government institutions in selected African countries. This year's training is being organised by the Science and Technology Computer Centre of Guiyang, Guizhou Province, and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce.

Thirty-four participants, drawn from 20 African, including Ghana, will study various topics in Information Communication Technology to help decrease the digital divide between developed and under-developed countries.

Addressing the opening session Mr Mao Taiping, Dean of Science and Technology Centre of Guizhou Province, urged the participants to take the training programme seriously to help develop their countries. Ms Qiang Hui, Director of Department of Commerce, Guizhou Province, said the province was happy to host the African participants and expressed the hope that this would strengthen the relationship between China and the participating countries.
