Mr. Zhang Quan, Chinese Businessman and owner of the Tema International Hotel and EasyWin Casino, is lacing his boots to petition Ghana’s Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice over the conduct of a state prosecutor in a criminal case.

Mr. Zhang Quan is not happy about the way and manner the state prosecutor, whose name was only given as Mr. Sarpong had handled the case, which according to him, almost led to his death.

Mr. Quan said these when addressing the media in Accra.

Mr. Quan further alleged that Mr. Sarpong (prosecutor) employed all kinds of tactics to frustrate him by continuously refusing to brief him on the developments of the case with all sorts of excuses.

Meanwhile, when contacted via telephone Mr. Sarpong who refused to disclose his full name told journalists that the case was closed long ago and the full details of the judgment was available at the Court Registrar.

“This case has finished long ago so I don’t know why you people are calling me; it was closed long ago and verdict has been given,” Mr. Sarpong emphasized

Mr. Quan was a victim of a gun-wielding attack around April 2012 at his hotel and casino where one of his workers got injured in the attack.

“We have been coming to court for close to one and a half years and all we hear is case adjourned…case adjourned every time. There was no day that I was called to narrate my part of the issue to the court.

They did not allow me to hire my own lawyer and they asked Mr. Sarpong to handle the case, but he was not telling me anything fruitful,” Mr. Quan alleged.

Recounting the incident, Mr. Quan said it happened on April 10, 2012 about 5:30 to 6:00pm where some four Chinese men who had registered as guests lodging at the same hotel, went into Mr. Zhang’s office with a pistol and furiously attacked him using the pistol to hit him severally resulting in severe injury.

He said a worker at the Hotel called Reginald Okain Parbey was injured in the process.

He also indicated that the police and military team dispatched to the hotel succeeded in arresting some of the attackers.
