Chinese Loan For Bui Dam

The Government is to sign a $600 million loan agreement with the Chinese Government soon, to finance the Bui Dam Project, which is to begin next year.

The construction of the dam is to enable the country to meet its electricity requirements.

The Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, dropped the hint in Parliament yesterday when he contributed to a statement made on the floor of the House by the MP for South Dayi, Dr Kwame Ampofo, on the energy implications and the challenges on the country?s quest for the attainment of a middle income status.
