Wed, 16 Jul 1997 Source: --

Suhum (E/R), July 15, A suggestion has been made to musical groups to institute scholarship schemes to sponsor deserving students to study music in higher institutions. Mr. E.A. Amponsah, Koforidua-Ho diocesan music director of the Association of Anglican Church Choirs, made the suggestion at the 60th anniversary celebration of the All Saints Anglican Church choir at Suhum at the weekend. The anniversary was also meant to raise funds for the purchase of musical instruments for the choir. Mr. Amponsah urged the choir to go beyond the confines of the church to serve as a mobilizing force for the achievement of national unity. Mr. Emmanuel Kwabena Dartey, Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar district chief executive, advised Christians to lead exemplary lives. Earlier in a sermon, the Reverend Cannon J.J. Calys-Tagoe of the Koforidua Saint Peter's Anglican Cathedral, observed that choristers, like the clergy, always have messages for the congregation and appealed for support for them.
