Accra, June 9, GNA - Mr. Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, at the office of the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor John Evans Atta Mills has advised delegates of the Odododiodioo Constituency to choose a reliable, efficient and effective candidate at the primaries to represent them in Parliament, come 2008 elections. He said leadership is not about politics but the promotion of the economic independence of the people to enable them to prepare for the task of nation-building. Mr. Vanderpuiye said that a leader should be someone who should always be with the people so that they can together identify and prioritize the needs of the community. He was speaking at an NDC programme; "Meet Your MP" in the constituency on Sunday, which brought together delegates and elders in the area.

He urged the supporters to concentrate on things that would move the party forward, stressing that a close collaboration between all factions was vital for development at the constituency level, hence the need to sensitize the delegates before the elections. Mr. Nii Tackie Kommey, Member of Parliament for the constituency, took the gathering through the proceedings in Parliament and how the constituents could also participate in it to exert pressure from the electorate on the MPs.

He enumerated a number of development projects he implemented and said the provision and improvement of educational infrastructure had been his focus during his two-year period as MP.

The MP said it was his belief that the provision of such social services was a policy to improve the lives of the people and a long-term investment in human resource development, which had benefited many people.

Mr. Korley Larsey, an opinion leader in the area commended the MP for his commitment to the provision of educational infrastructure during his two-year tenure as MP.

Mr. Larsey urged the NDC supporters to bear in mind that, a vote for Nii Tackie Kommey is a vote for the implementation of more development projects in the constituency.
