The Chorkor Presby Authority Primary School made history by hosting its very first Speech and Prize-Giving Day in 74 years on September 27, 2024.

For a school that has long been overlooked, in a neighborhood that is often neglected, this day was monumental. Beyond the ceremonies, it signified the start of a brighter future for students who typically face limited opportunities after completing Grade 6.

Through this historic initiative led by Her Royal Majesty, Queen Vickylextar, the Omanye Royal Kingdom aims to inspire these young minds, showing them that a world of possibilities lies ahead.

Queen Vickylextar was warmly escorted and welcomed with a brass band as she arrived with her convoy. Students, parents, dignitaries and other guests gathered to celebrate the achievements of the top 10 learners, but the day's significance ran deeper than just awards—it was a message of hope and empowerment.

Addressing the students, Queen Vickylextar emphasized the importance of education as a key to unlocking potential, encouraging them to dream beyond their circumstances.

The event's highlight was the awarding of scholarships through the prestigious E.A. Okang Scholarship for Academic Excellence, named after the Queen's father. These scholarships will support selected students throughout their academic journey, from Junior High School to university. For many, it marks the first time such opportunities have been available, symbolizing a transformative shift for the school and community.

As part of Omanye’s commitment to the school, the event also saw the donation of books collected from schools in Canada, further highlighting the global effort to uplift Chorkor’s children. Through this collaborative drive, students in Barrhaven, Ontario, sent books, hoping to share their love of learning with their peers in Ghana.

This event represents more than a celebration of academic achievement—it stands as a powerful statement of hope. For the children of Chorkor, it sends a clear message that they are valued, their education matters, and with support, they can achieve greatness. Queen Vickylextar’s leadership and the Omanye Royal Kingdom’s initiatives have set a new path forward, opening doors to education and empowering the next generation to aspire for more.

Inspiring a newfound sense of hope and possibility, the historic event at Chorkor Presby Primary School ended, but also marked the beginning of brighter futures for its students.
