The Christian Council of Ghana has expressed worry over the festering tension between Christians and Chieftaincy Institutions in the country.

General Secretary of the Council Rev Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong fears the development could affect the progress of the country.

Rev. Opuni-Frimpong wants some measures taken to create harmony between the two groups.

Speaking at the launch of Suma Akwantu Kese Festival at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region, Rev. Opuni-Frimpong said Christianity and the chieftaincy institution has played a critical role in the development of the country.

“Despite the significant contribution that chieftaincy institution has played there seems to be a tremendous tension between Christianity and the chieftaincy institution.

“At the moment there has not been a very good integration between our Christian faith and the chieftaincy and that is one area we have not been able to harmonise,” Rev. Opuni-Frimpong.
