Christian group warns EC boss

Christian pressure group, Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI), has condemned the Chairperson of Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, for what the group has described as a "deliberate inclusion of political party members" to a committee which is supposed to be non-partisan only to cause chaos in the upcoming elections.

The group in a statement signed and issued by its National President, Rev. Osempakani Kaakyire Kofi and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Rev. Daniel Osei Budu, and copied to Today in Accra, appealed to Mrs. Osei to know that, “the seat she is occupying is a very delicate one and must handle it with the fear of God not man.”

"We are hereby entreating the EC boss not to avail herself for any demonic activities else God won’t spare the EC boss if her actions cause any trouble in the country,” the statement cautioned.

The group thus appealed to the EC to remain loyal to God and the people of Ghana rather than a political party.

"Inasmuch as our association seeks for sanity in the work of God we also have the strongest conviction that if peace eludes us as a nation there will be no place for the work of God and that we take seriously into consideration the peace and political stability of our land," it noted.

The group believed that through the power of God things could work “for us as a nation but we also understand that some human foolishness can bring calamity on a nation though God is still watching therefore the EC must be extra wise in its dealings before, during and after the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections…”

It added: “One thing we the Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI) have observed is that whether we (Ghanaians) like it or not this year’s election is going to be highly competitive and very keen which needs extra vigilance and a heart that value human lives more than commitment to pay masters.”

According to the group, it was not happy with the latest development with some decisions of the EC to have intentionally and out of bias included strong and even former parliamentary aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Arhin, and few known NDC activists on the election steering committee.

To this end, the group cautioned the EC to carry out its mandate as independently as possible to avoid any election-related bloodshed “because God will revenge any deliberate human act that may cause any bloodshed in our election.”
