Christians in Kumasi mark the Resurrection of Christ

Kumasi, April 4, GNA - The Right Reverend Professor Osei Safo-Kantanka, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has advised Ghanaians to be committed to duty and work assiduously in their fields of endeavours, to ensure accelerated growth of the nation.

This, he said, was necessary since nation building was the responsibility of all and not the government alone. Right Rev Safo- Kantanka was preaching at a church service to mark the Resurrection of Christ at the Adum Wesley Cathedral in Kumasi on Sunday. He said the resurrection of Christ signified the turning point in the life and history of mankind as it brought salvation, hope and reconciliation to all.

The Bishop therefore stressed the need for Ghanaians to use the occasion to forgive each other for wrong doings to help enhance unity in the country.

They should also pray fervently to God to shower his blessings and merciful kindness on the nation to help her achieve her developmental agenda.

Delivering the sermon at the Bantama Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church, Rev. Peter Kofi Nyarkoh, the Minister in- charge, charged leaders of the nation to serve their people with diligence and honesty. He said they should learn from the good leadership qualities of Christ and resolve not to lord it over their people, but be transparent and accountable to them.

This, he said would promote good governance and also deepen democracy to uplift the living conditions of the people. Reverend John Appiah, Head Pastor of the Faith Outreach Ministry at Oforikrom in Kumasi, in a sermon, observed that Christians as agents of change should lead the campaign against religious intolerance and indiscipline in all aspects.

He said the society had in recent times been beset with all forms of social vices which could be detrimental to the progress made. Rev Appiah noted that Christianity stood for peace and as such Christians should foster good neighbourliness among themselves and others. He announced that the church has lined up a series of evangelism and outreach programmes to preach the Gospel to help transform society. At the King's Church at South Suntreso in Kumasi, the Rev Edward Ray Cudjoe Odame, the General-Overseer, in a sermon, said the resurrection has brought hope, new life and reconciliation to mankind. He therefore entreated Ghanaians to eschew negative utterances and lifestyles that have the tendency of creating violence and conflicts in the society.

The General-Overseer urged Christians not to rest on their oars but continue to contribute positively towards the nation's development process at all times.
