Christians urged to eschew social vices and exhibit the love of Christ

Cape Coast, Dec. 25, GNA- Christians in the Cape Coast municipality attended church services on Christmas day to celebrate the birth of Christ as churches were filled to capacity with people dressed in their best to mark the occasion.

At the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, the Superintendent Minister, the Very Reverend Theophilus Anderson who preached the sermon on the theme =93Christ the Saviour is Born=94, urged Christians to rid their hearts of envy, hatred, jealousy, backbiting and all forms of social vices and accept Christ.

He said it was unfortunate that the hearts of some Christians are pre-occupied with all forms of sins and stressed that 93no one would want to occupy rooms which are filled with filth=94. Rev. Anderson advised all Christians to show love, peace and joy to their neighbours, while forgiving one another to make the celebration of Christmas more meaningful.

At the Cape Coast branch of the Victory Bible Church, the head pastor, Reverend Richard Ampadu-Duku asked Christians to be innovative and hardworking to get out of poverty as it is not the will of God for his children to wobble in 93lack and advert poverty=94.

He said the situation where some Christians fold their arms awaiting 93miracles and breakthroughs=94 should not be encouraged since that was not biblical and exhorted them to take stock of their activities throughout the year and make decisions that would facilitate their development in the coming year.

The Rev. Joseph Hammond, assistant pastor of Varrick Memorial AME Zion church at Cape Coast, said the birth of Jesus Christ was a proclamation of Jesus as the Saviour.

He therefore charged Christians to have faith in him, love one another and follow his footsteps by eschewing hatred, envies and black mailing to promote peaceful co-existence.

Rev. Hammond noted that when this was done God would bless this country and peace would continue to abound to facilitate its rapid development.
