Christians urged to focus on spiritual warfare

Accra, Jan. 1, GNA- The Reverend Seth Acquaye, Resident Pastor of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Kokomlemle, Accra, on Friday, urged Christians to focus their attention on spiritual battles rather than physical ones.

The Rev. Acquaye, in a prophetic message prior to the New Year, said 2010 was going to be a year of spiritual warfare, and that those who would rely on the Lord Jesus Christ would be more than conquerors. Speaking on the topic; "You Cannot afford to loose," he said the devil is going to shift focus from the current global problems which include environmental and economic trends, to spiritual warfare adding that Christians cannot afford to loose this battle.

He based his sermon on II Corinthians 10:3-6 which indicates that though Christians walk in the flesh, they do not war according to the flesh and that the weapon of their warfare was not canal. He also recounted how the Pharisees in Matthew 12:24-29 had accused Jesus of possessing foul spirit to cast out demons.

The Rev. Acquaye said the enemy would come in various forms to attack all aspects of their lives, and therefore vigilance would be required on their part in order to subdue the devil's treachery, and cautioned Christians against following all sorts of beliefs. He said strategies such as frustrations, anxiety, sicknesses, division, arguments as well as seeds of dissatisfaction would be deployed against Christians, all aimed at grabbing the weak in spirit to cross over to the devils camp.

The Rev. Acquaye stressed that obedience to the word of God was the only key and armory for Christians to fight this spiritual battle, and called for a unified front on the part of all Christians to win the battle against Satan. He however said the Lord will punish all who are disobedient to his word and reward the righteous. At the tick of the clock at 1200 hours midnight, the entire congregations were led into a vigorous time of prayer amidst singing and shouting of halleluyah to usher in the New Year.
