Accra, April 2, GNA - Christians are to take a step of faith even in the face of difficulties, just as Jesus Christ did during his redemptive mission as he hanged on the cross at Calvary 2,000 years ago. "A feeling of being forsaken does not really mean that God has forsaken you," the Very Reverend Superintendent Frank D. Twum-Baah, Chaplain of the Ghana Police Church, said on Good Friday.
Very Rev. Supt. Twum-Baah, who was concluding the "seven words" of Jesus Christ on the Cross, said notwithstanding, the excruciating pain that Christ was enduring and his earlier statement asking God why He had forsaken him, he still did not lose faith in God. He said when Christ said "it is finished" and concluded by saying, "Father into thy hands I commit my Spirit" showed that he had won the battle and was triumphant.
He said "Christ teaches us to remain committed to God even under difficulties. He teaches us to submit to God," adding that Christ led a prayerful life and was in constant communication with God throughout his mission, and urged Christians to emulate him. Very Rev. Supt. Twum-Baah said Christ in addition cared about relationship among people when he said "Son behold thy Mother and Mother behold thy son" and urged Christians to build good relationships and where a relationship has been breached, to make an effort to mend it, be it spousal or familial. He said the renting into two of the veil that separated the "Holy of Holies" meant that God had entered into a new relationship with mankind and showed that with the death of Jesus Christ man has now been given access to God. Intercessory prayers were offered for the prosperity of the Government and people of Ghana and for peace in the West African Sub-Region. 2 April 10
