Christmas atmosphere lost on the Ho Municipality

Ho, Dec. 15, GNA-The Ho Municipality is yet to stir up to the Christmas mood with just ten days to the Yuletide.

The atmosphere in town is drab, bereft of the colours and carols but for the occasional Christmas jingles on local radio stations. The gift shops which were overflowing their seams at the same time last year are empty except for sprinklings of Christmas cards. In the early hours of Tuesday when the GNA went round town, not a single gift shop had a "Father Christmas dress." The streets are dry as business people complain that sales are very poor. The famous green and red colours are absent. Banking and other corporate institutions which hitherto decorated their premises in Christmas colours were not left out of the want of the Yuletide mood this year.

Mr Ernest Kwaku Bonky, a distributor with one of the multinational companies told the GNA that "but for radio stations which play Christmas songs intermittently and the dry weather signaling Christmas, there will be no indication of Christmas."

He said though individuals and corporate institutions were preparing on how to end the year, it was important for the Municipal Assembly to add some beauty to the streets and other public places to herald the season. Mr Isaac Kodobissah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, when contacted said the recent Volta Trade and Investment Fair had taken the "vim out of the Assembly" and appealed to corporate institutions to help decorate the streets and other public places in the Town.

He appealed to Zoomlion Company Limited, a waste management company, to ensure that the municipal area remained tidy before, during and after the celebrations. 15 Dec. 10
