Eleven new babies delivered on Christmas Day have received hampers containing assorted baby items from the Management of Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN).

The babies according to Ms Justina Amo-Yartey, Deputy Director of Nursing, are made up of six caesarean sections and five natural deliveries.

The hampers were presented by Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, who urged the mothers of the new babies to take good care of the children.

He said children are gifts from God and parents who are fortunate to have them must in deed and words be responsible for their welfare.

Mr David Worsey, Acting Regional Senior Manager of the MTN, said the gesture has become an annual duty of the Network to give gifts especially to new babies who share a symbolic date with Jesus Christ- the greatest gift to humanity in history.

He said the Network always felt the need to make meaningful contributions to society and instituting the annual gesture for new babies is an indication of their love and care for humanity and the society that has grown their businesses over the years.

Mr Worsey said other hospitals would also benefit from the gesture.

Ms Justina Amo-Yartey, the Deputy Director of Nursing, pleaded with MTN Management to adopt some of the wards at the maternity block for "more yellow care".

She expressed gratitude to MTN for their benevolence.
