A POLL conducted recently on the Internet at ghwnaweb.com placed the Ghanaian Chronicle ahead of Ghana's fourteen top-selling newspapers in terms of trust and credibility. In the poll, which basically asked, "Which paper do you trust to give true and unbiased report?" Chronicle came out tops with 26.8% points.
The Daily Graphic followed with 24.8% while the Palaver which is fast graining popularity among those who want to hear scathing criticisms about the government placed a surprising third with 11.7%.Kwaku Baako's Crusading Guide was fourth (9.5%); Accra Daily Mail followed (7.9%); Ghanaian Voice came next (4.6%) and the state-owned Ghanaian Times placed seventh (3.1%).
Dr Yaw Graham's Public Agenda had 2.5% and placed eighth; Evening News (2.1%) was ninth and the tenth position went to Nana Akufo-Addo's Statesman, which had 2.0%.Gye Nyame National Concord which is yet to celebrate its first anniversary struggled to the 11th position with 1.6%; Ambassador Kabral Amihere's Independent placed a disappointing 12th with 1.5%. Gina Blay's popular Daily Guide too caused a surprise: 13th with 1.0%.
The Daily Dispatch, edited by cruiser weight Ben Ephson, placed last in the 15 giant league - also with 1.0%.The interesting information, which is available at ghanaweb.com, indicated that in all there were 609 voters.
The latest survey has come to add to the many feathers in the cap of Ghana's truest independent newspaper, the Chronicle, which has over the years piled awards upon awards and led in similar surveys.
