Koforidua, April 12, GNA- Ms Golda Asante, the Eastern Regional HIV/AIDS Focal Person, has expressed concern about the demand for money by some church leaders before allowing talks on HIV/AIDS disease to their congregations.
She said the church was expected to be a "comfortable home" for everybody, including "even criminals" and therefore called on church leaders to take advantage of opportunities that come their way to educate their members about HIV/AIDS.
Ms Asante was talking to the GNA on Monday about reports that last year, some church leaders in Koforidua refused to allow members of the Eastern Regional HIV/AIDS Committee to talk to their congregations on HIV/AIDS as part of activities to mark the World AIDS Day in the region. Ms Asante said the church needed to take more practical approach towards taking care of their members.
