Church leader advises media

Accra, April. 8, GNA - The Rev. T. P. Tekpetey, Director of Church Life and Nurture of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has called on the media to be bold and objective in their presentations to promote the welfare of the citizenry.

He also called for collaboration between the church and the media since the two institutions were "working to achieve a common goal of the development of the society."

Rev. Tekpetey made these remarks when he received a delegation from the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the Head Office of the Church on Thursday. The delegation, which was led by Nana Appau Duah, Acting General Manager of the Agency was at the Church's Head Office to offer its gratitude for the award the GNA received as part of the Church's 175th Anniversary celebration.

Last Saturday, the GNA and 36 other Media Houses were awarded by the PCG for their immense support by publicising the 175th Anniversary and other activities of the Church over the years.

Rev. Tekpetey acknowledged the role the media has played towards the charting of the democratic path of the country and hoped that journalists would continue to be fair, bold and objective.

Nana Appau Duah on behalf of the Agency thanked the PCG for its gesture and hoped that the cordial relationship, which has developed between it and the media, would be sustained for the good of the people.

He commended the PCG for its involvement, not only in the spiritual welfare of the people but also their socio-economic advancement through the provision of schools, hospitals and other social amenities.

Nana Appau Duah assured the church that the Agency would continue to collaborate with all institutions, which are geared towards the development of the people.
