Nsanful(C/R), Sept. 25, GNA - Mr Albert Quainoo Arthur, Municipal Chief Executive for Mfantseman, has appealed to churches and Islamic groups to go beyond prayers in seeking peace for the nation before, during and after the December general election.

"You should help in educating your members, the general public, especially supporters of the political parties on the 'dos and don'ts' of elections to make them not to exceed their bounds," he said. Mr. Quainoo Arthur said this when he addressed a congregation of the Church of Christ from the municipality at a prayer meeting at Nsanful near Anomabu for peaceful election.

He said though the December election was crucial for the nation's progress, there was no need for politicians to regard it as a "do or die affair."

"What is important is for the electorate and officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) to do what is expected of them peacefully and leave the rest to God who elects a leader to take control." He said the nation must not be thrown into anarchy because of political power.

Mr. Quainoo Arthur urged the electorate to check their names when the voters register is exhibited next month and also to help the EC to clean the register by pointing out the names of the dead and minors. He appealed to those who have made up their minds not to vote to rescind their decision since it is obligatory for every good citizen to exercise his or her franchise. Nana Akyin, Mankrado of Nsanful, appealed to chiefs to institute measures to ensure violent free election in their communities.
