The Church of Pentecost USA Inc, New York Region held her 2008 Easter
Convention in the City of Hartford, the capital city of the State of
Connecticut from March 21 -23, 2008. The theme for the Convention was
"Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life" John 11:25.
In his welcome address to the Convention, the host pastor, Rev. John Ofori
of the Church of Pentecost Hartford District pointed out that, the theme for
the convention "Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life", reminds us of the
fact that believers worship a resurrected and a Living Savior. He also noted
that "the resurrection story also makes Christianity a unique religion among
others, and Jesus incomparable with other religious leaders. It makes our
salvation so real and so great.
He continued that; according to Apostle Paul if Jesus did not rise up from
the dead then 'the church has no message for the world, the Christian has
nothing to believe; Christian witnesses and preachers are telling falsehoods
about God; our individual faith is an empty, lifeless shell; and tragedy of
all tragedies we are still in our sins". He further observed that the
resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ gives those of us who have believed in Him
a glorious hope, the confidence of life abundant and the assurance of life
eternal
The Convention was chaired by Rev. Samuel Kwesi Arthur, the New York
Regional Head of the Church. Rev. Arthur in his keynote message to the
convention related that Jesus has risen from the dead and has become the
first fruit of the dead. Moreover, God has exalted Jesus and has given him a
name above all names and made him Lord. He exhorted that our faith in the
resurrected Savior will not only bring eternal life but also a resurrection
of dead things in our lives. He prayed that participants would leave the
convention renewed, strengthened, healed and blessed.
In attendance was a special guest of honor, Honorable rJo Winch, the
Majority Leader of the City Council of Hartford, CT., who represented the
Mayor, Eddie Perez. Ms. Winch on behalf of the Mayor of Hartford formerly
welcomed the church and hoped that the participants enjoyed their three days
stay in the beautiful city of Hartford. She also remarked that the church
had brought much blessing to the city and encouraged that the church comes
back to hold her Easter Convention in the city. About 3000 people attended
the successful Easter Convention.
