THE MP for Cape Coast, Hon. Christine Churcher at the weekend urged party members who continue to complain that they have not been seeing her after the elections to exercise restraint because presently she does not serve her constituency alone but the nation as well.

She urged her constituents to take consolation in the fact that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who is a party member, is there to cater for their problems and needs.

Speaking at a fund-raising ceremony of the party towards the purchase of a vehicle, at the Cape Coast Town Hall, Ms Churcher stated that as Minister responsible for Basic and Secondary Education, she would ensure that schools in the municipality returned to their original glory.

She assured the people that the government of the NPP will as from next year begin serious work to return smiles on the faces of Ghanaians especially the youth who will have work to do, adding if worse comes to worst,

"I will assist needy areas with my MPs Common Fund to improve the lot of the people in the municipality", she stressed.

At the end of the ceremony, an amount of ?5.3million was realised.

The occasion also marked the presentation of honorary award of a specially designed muffler with the NPP emblem of Osono embossed on it and a carven to the MP while over 216 polling agents of the party in the 200 general elections were also presented with certificates of honour.

Hon. Churcher urged her electorate to bear with her if she does not frequent Cape Coast because "this time round my schedule takes me to all parts of the country."

She stated that development and progress of the country is a joint effort between the MCE, herself as MP and the President of the nation. The government, she said, is not afraid of any opposition since it is laying a good foundation for development.

Ghanaians would surely see the difference between the almost 20-year rule of the ousted NDC government and the NPP's one year in office by January next year, she stressed.

The MCE on his part also thanked the people for the honour done him and asked for their continued prayers and support to enable him discharge the duties in line with the post they have given him.

According to him, last Friday October 26, was exactly 292 days since he assumed office as MCE and assured them that the municipality will have its fair share of the national development.

He announced that under the Urban III Project, Cape Coast would have 200 street lights from Aquarium to Pedu Junction through Adisadel Village.

Earlier, the constituency chairman, Mr. L.E.S Sarbah and his secretary, Mr.

Andy Amoah had addressed the gathering separately.
