Mpasatia (Ash), Sept 9, GNA- Churches and faith-based organisations have been urged to openly condemn the practice of homosexuality and lesbianism, which is threatening to gain roots in the country. Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, District Chief Executive for Atwima-Mponua who gave the advice, disagreed with the argument being held by some human rights activists that the constitution guaranteed freedom of association, saying, that argument was too permissive. He was speaking at the end of this year's annual camp meeting of the Nkawie-Toase district of the Seventh - day Adventist (SDA) Church held at Mpasatia under the theme, "A Journey of Hope".
The DCE said the fact that the Constitution of Ghana guaranteed freedom of association, movement, speech, worship and expression, did not give the license for the sexually perverse to satanise the country like the biblical "Sodom and Gomorrah".
The Reverend Emmanuel Danteh, President of the Central Ghana conference of the SDA, speaking on the theme, described the Christian life as a journey from the slavery of sin to freedom in Christ. He said there were trials and problems within the journey but gave the assurance that victory is certain through Christ Jesus. Reverend Abankwah Amoakohene, the host pastor, appealed to members to practice the teachings of the Holy Scriptures to attract more people to the church.
